Welcome to the first of (hopefully) many installments of this section of the site, based on Hikaru's blog on the official Kishidan website. Eventually, once my Japanese is good enough, I will provide you with stuff about the other blogs too. Unfortunately, at the moment my Japanese reading is as good as my understanding of particle physics (I can spell "particle physics", but that's about it).

One of the good things about Hikaru's blog (other than it being by Hikaru:)) is that it requires very little understanding of Japanese, as it mainly consists of a mixture of at least two of the following;

  • Cute photograph
  • Cute drawing
  • Cute total gibberish
  • Cute Hikaru
  • Cute...er...other things

Hikaru's Blog, Part 1: Cute drawing of...something

This week, I'll be looking at a picture he drew a few months ago (around June).

Cute abstract picture by Saotome Hikaru

There's quite a lot going on in this picture, so I'm going to split it into its individual components, and then bring them together into a nice tidy bundle.

In this picture, we have:

  • "Banpaku" written in hiragana (means something like "overnight stay")
  • a giant ice skate
  • a mountain
  • a giant spider/the sun/something else (probably one of those)
  • something that's either a chair lift or a bunch of sandcastles on a hill
  • something on the mountain, which looks like a book, or the roof of a building
  • a creepy ghost thing
  • Hikaru about to hug or slap the creepy ghost thing (it's kind of hard to tell)

(Damn, this picture is cute! Makes no sense at all, but it's so cute!♡)

Sensible explanation: Hikaru went on an overnight stay at a skiing resort, and he had a lot of fun.:)
MJ explanation: Hikaru is very cute (have I mentioned that yet?), but he is also quite insane. In a cute way.

Next installment, a photograph of Hikaru sticking out his tongue while someone sleeps in the background. Just what is going on in this picture? And what does it look like, anyway? Find out soon!
